Before founding Hobnail in early 2006, Jeff most recently appeared with Renegade, later known as the Mollyhawkes. This Celtic band performed on radio and in such venues as Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts in New York; Godfrey Daniel’s in Bethlehem, PA; the Celtic Classic Festival in Bethlehem, PA; and the Mid-Atlantic Celtic Festival in Maryland.

Renegade released two albums, A Lark in the Morning and Stand and Deliver, and the Mollyhawkes released The Great Sun. All were critically acclaimed in such publications as the Philadelphia Inquirer and folk magazines Dirty Linen and Rock and Reel.

Earlier in his career, Jeff performed throughout the U.S.—on his own, with partners such as Mike Kratzer, and in the folk duo Morgan & Folk. During this period, he shared the marquee with acts like Tommy Makem, Pete Seeger, Tom Paxton, New Riders of the Purple Sage, Asleep at the Wheel, Jerry Jeff Walker, and Brian Bowers.

He has also contributed music to the scores of two films, The Last of the Mohicans and Jersey Justice.
